About Us

Etymology of the word Qincha:
According to the RAE, it comes from the Quechua qincha , which means "fence" or "palisade."

Definition:

f. In Argentina, Chile, Ecuador and Peru, a wall made of reeds, rods or other similar material, which is usually covered with mud and used in fences, huts, corrals, etc.

For us , Qincha represents weaving, a symbol that transcends the physical. It is through weaving that we create relationships, help and teach others, just as our elders did for us.

Intertwined bamboo symbolizes strength: a single piece may seem fragile, but when many come together and work together, something magical happens: the power of teamwork.

At Qincha we are inspired by ancient techniques, which we combine with new technologies to respond to the needs of the present and the future.

What we do

Qincha is a design and construction studio based in Tulum, Mexico, with a global reach. Specializing in the use of bamboo, we offer architectural, interior design, furniture and art installation services, as well as comprehensive solutions for construction projects. We combine traditional artisan techniques with innovative technologies to create functional and aesthetic designs. At Qincha, we transform bamboo into structures and pieces that stand out for their versatility, durability and beauty, positioning it in contemporary design.

Our History

Qincha was conceived in 2018, but it was in 2021 that it took shape as a studio. Initially, it was conceived as a space dedicated exclusively to furniture and construction with bamboo. However, over time we evolved to become a studio that combines design, art and construction.

Behind Qincha are two young entrepreneurs passionate about bamboo: an architect specialized in parametric design and a teacher with extensive experience in the world of construction with this material.

Our story began with the desire to unite talents to create an architecture that is more responsible for those who inhabit it. At Qincha, we combine our skills to develop projects that are viable and sustainable, from design to execution.

Our Logo emulates the shape of interlaced fabric, symbolizing the strength and power of teamwork.
